A Memorable Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving was a special one for me because it was my first time hosting the dinner! Yes in my 2 bdrm apt there was Thanksgiving feast! ... Here is how it played out.

When we knew that we were moving to Cali we told our families that of course we would be home for the holidays, but once we actually drove the drive with 2 kids we decided that maybe we would stay home for Thanksgiving since we would be driving home in a few more weeks anyhow. My parents heard the news and said, Well we dont have any plans and dont feel like sitting around in the cold so we will come to you!

My sister and her family flew in from Northern Id, and my Parents and youngest brother Connor tagged along. Brock and Andy were no shows.. Brocks in Virginia at school and Andy Australia on a mission. SO the rest of the Family came and we had a blast!

Bella was so cute... she talked to the girls about how she was a princess in training just like them! cheese! She asked Sydney what was her favorite book and Syd said, Beauty. Ooo.. shot down.

We saw.. A Lot of characters that day.. Syd was a little star struck with the princesses!

Day... 3 (Everyone+ Dad)Turkey day!! Boys go golfing, Girls cook and Aubrey SICK on the COUCH!
Tis true. On this special day that I had been planning for and preparing for I was sick! I woke up with nausea, stuffy nose, headache, and the worst part: miserable body aches! Every little part of my body just hurt to even move. I was so sad. While every sat and ate the delicious dinner, I cried on the couch! Sounds childish now but I felt like {fill-in the blank} and was missing out on the pumpkin pie! I am pretty sure that I had the flu, probably not H1N1 but a flu bug because it took me a good 5 days to recover and all the symptoms matched pretty well. {So much for my flu shot} Luckily with my good nursing training my hand washing was effective and no one else caught it!

Day... 4  (Everyone) A trip for the Family to the Long Beach Aquarium

Yes I like to build sand castles. It makes me feel like a little girl again, (and I know I look like one too.) I still wasn't feeling like running a mile but the fresh air helped a bit.

Bryce LOVED the fishes!

These two have always had a special bond. Just loves Addi. One time while Addison was napping, just laid on her belly and patted her face. This little man is a ladies man.

This day wasnt particularly warm but des and brandon were craving the snowcone. She bought an ordinary snow cone and this is what they gave her! Why so big? We are yet to understand. Al the others were like 1/2 the size!?

AND WE COUNTED OUR BLESSINGS
Just a side note... As we were driving to the Zoo, we had to take "the 5" and really long highway here leads up to LA, and I was leading the 3 cars with the GPS. As we were driving, we had maybe 10 miles before our exit, I was planing on moving to the fast lane to avoid the slow exiting traffic but decided that we were comfortable where we were and didn't. About 2-3 mins later the traffic began to slow and a large white truck next to us in the lane {where we would have been} didn't seem to notice that everyone was slowing down. He suddenly saw and slammed on his breaks but it was too late. He Slammed in to the van in front of him which created a domino effect front and back. At least 6-7 cars were crushed. And we sat in our car listening to the tires screech and metal and glass crunch and were So Grateful that we weren't in that lane. I don't think that anyone was hurt, but a few cars were totaled.  We said a few extra prayers that day and counted our many many blessings to be a safe healthy family together!

Day..6  (Home for Mom, Connor and Dad.) Church and Lazy leftovers

Day..7 (Desi's Fam) Shopping!! Ikea, Forever 21, and M & L fabrics!
Sorry no pictures of these days, but I think there are plenty of the others.

Everyone's gone and I am recouping!
