Still playing catching up...
At the end of June Brandon and I took a trip down here to California to look for housing, job interviews, and wrap up some school stuff. We left our kids for the week with Grandparents! That was crazy.. literally our first vacation together without kids since our honeymoon, four years. It was hard to leave the kids but it is nice to hang out with your buddy and remember when you married them ;)
We looked at a million apartments til we found the one we are in now and played a little too! I interviewed and received a 'per diem' job on a Telemetry floor. This should be an interesting job, not to different from what I was doing before but everyone is a Cardiac patient and they also perform open heart surgery at this hospital and those are our patients. Working per diem means that I am as needed and only required to work 4 shifts a month. This I making is so nice to really be a mom! and play a bit more!
Anyhow ... I'll post more later.. Back to the trip.
One thing that I LoVe about Cali is the plant life! If you pay attention when your in a more tropical area you'll notice that there are about a million types of palm trees! Besides the other cool wide leafed trees (I am no green thumb or plant buff) but I think they are gorgeous!
We took a lazy lunch in a park and took tonz of pictures
Brandon surprised me one night with an angels game! This was a great way to get outside, do something relaxing and cheap! We now how all our angels paraphernalia and have gone to a few more games.
yep.. cheap because we are in the nose bleeds :) It really not that bad though.
Another night we headed to downtown Disney, which is like going downtown in any city but this is Disney. Shops, restaurants, the ESPN place Brandon loves, vendors, and bands playing outside about every 50 feet so lots of entertainment. AND it is free. Parking is even free for the first 4 hours. (Free parking here is unheard of, make that free or cheap).
One of the many restaurants here is Rain Forest Cafe. A little pricey but that is an experience you need to have a least 2-3 times in your life!....yeah that hunk got a little nuggle nuggle from me :)
Next on the agenda was Knotts Berry Farm. Fun but yes a theme park and very tiring.
One of the fun things about Knots are their shows. I didn't take any pics but there was a huge bike, rollerblading, skating show with a huge course set up. They were wild doing crazy flips and stunts. Below is their Snoopy on ice show, the ice skaters were amazing!
And now for my favorite of course...
Le BeAChE!
Another night we took a wander to Huntington Beach.. only 20-30 mins depending on traffic. And it was Goregous! Brandon's Cousin Allison Lives over there and she showed us the local wraps.
This is the peir there, at the end is a resturant..Ruby's. Kind of a 50's dinner. We ate dinner there then walked around. Every Tuesday night there is a street fair here, and it happened to be tuesday so there were vendors, bands, produce, and other random entertainment of people looking for money.
this is Allison and her boyfriend, fun night. You can one band in the back
It was a nice trip, not really a kick back and relax trip but it was nice to spend some time with Brandon and see a glimpse of our future! If anyone wants to come visit, there is plenty to do!!
